Grading Policy

All report card grades must be based on the school wide grading policy. Modifications to this policy beyond ±5% in any category must be approved by the principal.

60% Projects/work folders/Daily class work
30% Tests/quizzes/other formal assessments
10% Homework

Zumba Dance at BASH

We are trying to organize an intense, dynamic and FUN workout for staff and parents on Wednesday afternoons, 3:30 - 4:30.  A professional Zumba dance fitness instructor will come to work us out if we can recruit at least 20 colleagues and parents willing to work hard and have a blast (you do NOT need to be a dancer!). The course will run for 6 Wednesdays right here at BASH and cost $60 per participant, to be paid in advance.  Please contact Marileci Garcia or Linda Vinecour ASAP if interested, and please be interested!

Purpose Statements in the Classroom

Good Examples:

" A secondary art class: “Today, we’re going to consider the role that perspective plays in fine art, and to do that we’ll use specific technical vocabulary.”

A math class: “Today, we’re going to identify the properties of a quadratic equation and explain how we know whether equations are quadratic or not.”

"When visitors ask, What are you doing? they put the focus on the tasks students are asked to complete. A better question is, What are you learning? This directs students (and teachers) toward the deeper purpose...of the lesson and unit."

Credit Recovery and Independent Study

PLATO is being offered for credit recovery and independent study (only as an elective). Please direct students to their guidance counselors for more information.

Classroom Books

Please make sure to mark books that can be removed from your classroom with a red-colored sticky. Those that should stay are to be marked with a green-colored sticky. Please do this by the end of the day Monday. Follett Educational Services will be coming back to BASH to pick up these books.
