NYSTL Text Book Orders

Please submit all requests to Mr. Link asap. Two rules of thumb for NYSTL are that it is a standard textbook that costs $85.00 and has a new edition every year.

If you are unsure whether or not a book qualifies as a textbook, please see Gladys with the ISBN number and she can look it up for you.

The Hall Pass Initiative

The hall pass is a time-honored object that holds everyone accountable. Starting Wednesday, 10/20/10, we will begin a school-wide accountability campaign. See Mr. Link if you do not have hall pass by Tuesday, 10/19/10.
  • NO students are to be permitted in the hallway without a pass.
  • Teachers please have students sign your composition notebook logs if they are late, using the restroom, or leaving the classroom for any reason. NOTE: Composition notebook logs should be brought to all pre-observation conferences as well as parent contact logs.

RE:      Library November Bulletin Board

I would like to create a bulletin board on what the staff is currently reading.  If you are interested, please send me the title and author of the book.  In addition, I would like to include a picture of you to go along side the book you are reading.  If you already have a picture you want me to use, please email it to me at smcrae@schools.nyc.gov, or I can take a picture of you with my digital camera.

I appreciate your participation.

Bulletin Boards of Student Work

Your board assignment should display:
  • An instructional objective
  • Alignment with Common Core Standards (initial PD will be on Wednesday 10/20/10, and
  • Examples of graded student work
Please have exemplary work up by Monday 10/25/10- this is the deadline.

Teacher and Student Websites

Picture
An email was recently sent to your DOE email with a log in and password to your own teacher website. Mr. Joseph has done a marvelous job of creating his site. We will have instruction led by Mr. Joseph during a future 7th period learning community meeting.

When you choose your website domain, choose the 3rd option called "Use a Domain You Already Own" and enter example.bronxbash.com (replace example with the sub-domain of your choice).  If you need to switch the domain that your website currently publishes to, go to the "Settings" tab, and then click "change site address".

All BASH teachers can create their own sites as well as grant website building privileges to their students. This is a true multimedia platform. Homework can be downloaded from a teachers' page and finished work easily uploaded by students. Teachers can post audio, video, interactive classroom assignments as well as create online tests.
