Please see the Professional Goals Worksheet and review/draft your professional goals for this school year.  Next week Ron and I will be meeting with everyone to finalize this sheet and establish a plan for the year.

  • Please have goals drafted before we meet and hand it to Ron or I on Tuesday, January 11, 2011.
  • To help you meet your articulated goals, come prepared to discuss the support we can provide to you in furtherance of your specific developmental, pedagogical and content knowledge needs. (Language directly from QR Rubric).

Atlas Rubicon Curriculum Mapping and Differentiation Resources for your Professional Educator Tool Kits and Quality Review

  • Please consult the resources below as you develop your unit plans for this marking period and the next (our 2nd trimester). Please see Mr. Link with any questions.
  • This PD packet has examples of Enduring Understandings, Essential Questions, differentiation by content, process, and product (pg. 15), and the use of Bloom's taxonomy verbs in detailing skills in your map and constructing lesson plans. (more to come on the Fordham PD matrix that marries Bloom's with Depth of Knowledge- a tool we'll engage next week).
  • These two sites can be very helpful as you plan your lessons for this trimester-a comprehensive glossary of instructional strategies and best practices for differentiation.
  • Great multimedia sites: Math- Geogebraand Vihart, Science- computational Science, and Social Studies- graphs that come to life.
  • All of the following are files below
           - An excellent PowerPoint on Differentiated Instruction by a Well                             Developed school.
            - An excellent differentiation strategies tool located by Linda.
            - A differentiated unit plan guide
            - Katherine's Atlas map has completed map categories.
            - A rubric to evaluate your map. This will also be done formally by Mr. Link                 prior to our QR.
            - A Bloom's Taxonomy action verb sheet

Data should also be student work that you examine individually and together for areas of student strength and weakness, which necessitates adjusted (differentiated) instruction. Remember you can consult IEPs now in Skedula. Our BASH ELA students are listed below. Mr. Soto will be leading a PD on SIOP, which is an instructional approach specifically designed for ELL populations.

In the classroom. Quite to the point- the Quality Reviewer will want to see differentiation, alignment of your lesson plan and skills taught based on your curriculum and key standards (one of them being the Common Core Anchor Standard of Range of Writing - the rest should be other CCSS and NYSS based on the needs of your students assessed by you through data and your subject area expertise to prepare them for the Regents, College and Career.

There will likely be questions about how you respond to interim assessments  and other benchmarks in terms of instructional adjustments that you make. A visual depiction of the data cycle is below.
